OSHA Requires a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) identifying a product if it is corrosive to the skin and/or to the eyes, is a hazard for inhalation or has hazard and exposure limits.
EPA requires six tests for human exposure. REPULS has been tested by Product Safety Labs. Testing confirmed REPULS, as formulated, irritates eyes, skin, mucus membranes, mouth and esophagus without permanent injury, all desired effects. Tests include:

There are no prohibitions against prescribed use of pepper sprays by law enforcement in the United States. Consumer use of pepper sprays is legal in all 50 states, however some areas have specific regulations pertaining to the commercial purchase, possession and use of pepper sprays, generally addressing the size of the cannister. Many states, including the following, have varying restrictions: CA, FL, HI, MA, MI, NJ, NY & WI.
